Gunnar Nilson in memoriam
    back to tia index

Our dear friend Gunnar Nilson was a true Scandinavian minimalist. He created resolute outlines and gave a kind of indomitable atmosphere to the places depicted, where time is wonderfully present and plays a rare role.

He studied both art and classical music between 1975-1981 and made a decision in the middle of the 80´s to focus on painting. His paintings are mostly inspired by impression from the landscape that surronds him and from years of sailing in the archipelago close to the coast of the Baltic Sea. In his studio he reduced the details and use the colors trying to express spiritual dimensions and joy of life. He worked in different techniques - like acrylic, oil, tempera, frescos and lithographics.

He sadly passed away on February 4, 2014.
