Gunilla Löfgren was born in the northwest Sweden, and part of her family has Sami ancestors. Entering her art means discovering an artistic world in which spirit, soul, subconscious and mystery are only some guides. She creates abstract, figurative, symbolic and esoteric compositions that rise from her heart and find their own path free of constraints and parameters. Her creativity is mainly focused in seeing, feeling, and exploring the tension, power and passion that live between firmness and dissolution, between structured and creative chaos, stillness and movement, lightness and heaviness.
Several years ago she discovered the principles of Vedic Art, inspired by Indian philosophy. Vedic Art is not a discipline but a joyful way to approach painting. Following this method artists free themselves from the technical and practical aspect to discover instead new and continuous possibilities aimed at deeply exploring their creativity in an unceasing, profound dialogue between painting and the artist who created it.
By displaying emotions and moods, Gunilla Löfgren shows us how the emotional sphere and self-esteem can detach from the encumbrance of a daily routine full of problems, worries, uncertainties, and lead our lives towards a positive dimension. She uses the pictorial touch and colours to intimately get closer to the sphere of the unconscious, and moreover to feelings, passions and spirituality from which her imagination naturally flows.
Gunilla has exhibited her art regulary in Sweden since 1995, several countries in Europe and India. Her art is represented in both public and private collections. Gunilla Löfgren is a member of The Swedish Artists National Organisation – KRO and International Association of Art -- IAA
